Wallace
Nutting was 20th century America's foremost photographer. Between
1900 and his death in 1941, he sold literally millions of hand-colored
outdoor pastoral and Colonial Interior pictures with his work achieving
such enormous popularity that hardly an American middle-class household
was without one during the first quarter of the 20th century.
Wallace
Nutting was also the accomplished author of more than 20 different
books, including his widely renown States Beautiful Series,
books on Photography & Clocks, a personal Biography, and his
highly regarded books on Early American Antiques, of which the Furniture
Treasury is still regarded as one of the finest antique reference
books ever published. And while earning the distinction of becoming
the Father of American Antiques, Wallace Nutting's Studio
created some of the finest bench-made reproduction furniture produced
in the early 20th century.
