How To Bid At This Auction - Absentee Bids

FIRST...We recommend that you preview the entire Auction using the four Auction Tools found on the Upcoming Auctions Page of our Web Site to help you determine your level of interest in any items in this Auction:

FREE AUCTION CATALOG LISTING - You can preview or print out the Auction Catalog which lists the entire Order of Sale and which includes certain information which could have a significant impact on the way you bid.
AUCTION IMAGE GALLERY - You can preview a thumbnail image of each lot in this Auction...and you can click on each thumbnail image to preview a much larger 5x6" image which will help you to better evaluate condition. You can print out the entire Image Gallery as well.
AUCTION SORT - To help you save time the Auction Sort sorts the entire Auction by Photographer-Artist-Illustrator to help you more easily locate all items in this sale by a specific Photographer-Artist-Illustrator
GRADING STANDARDS - This will help you to better understand how we have graded lots within this Auction.

SECOND...You must read and agree to our Rules For Absentee Bids and Terms & Conditions of Sale

THIRD...Once you decide that you wish to leave any Absentee Bids...and if you agree to our Rules For Absentee Bids and Terms & Condition of Sale...you are welcome to call us for a Condition Report on any lots that may interest you. Please note that do not provide Condition Reports via e- mail. We provide Condition Reports only over the telephone because we have found that we can provide more details...more quickly...verbally over the telephone.

FOURTH...You can either call (215-345-6094) or email to place Absentee Bids, or if enough time allows, you can print out a copy of our Absentee Bid Form, fill it our completely, and mail it (MIA, PO Box 1536, Doylestown, PA 18901). Remember that the Maximum Bid Amounts you provide DO NOT include the Buyer's Premium, Sales Tax, and Shipping so please bid accordingly. Your Absentee Bid Form is also your Auction Registration Form and must be completed, and in our hands, 24-48 hours prior to the start of the Auction.

How To Bid At This Auction - Live Telephone Bids

We generally restrict Live Telephone Bidding at our Auctions to Larger-Value items, with Larger-Value usually being defined as "Items that we expect to bring $1000.00 or more at Auction." Although we have made exceptions to the $1,000.00 threshold in the past for serious collectors who are known to us, your best option for bidding on most items in this Auction is either through Absentee Bids or ArtFact Live.

How To Bid At This Auction - using ArtFact Live

FIRST...You must be registered with ArtFact Live. If you are not already registered as an ArtFact Live bidder you can register through this link.

We provide Condition Reports only over the telephone because we have found that we can provide more details...more quickly...verbally over the telephone. FIFTH...You must register with ArtFact Live in order to bid at this Auction. You can register with ArtFact Live Auctions via this link.

ArtFact will introduce you to how ArtFact Live Auctions works...what you must do Before the Auction...During the Auction...and After the Auction. There is even an ArtFact Live Tutorial to help acquaint you with ArtFact.

IMPORTANT: If this is your first time bidding via ArtFact Live...we highly recommend that you register with ArtFact Live and learn how it works at least 48 hours prior to the start of our Auction. You may even want to register with another ArtFact Live Auction that will take place prior to ours (you are not required to bid) in order to get a feel for how the ArtFact Live system works.

WHAT TO EXPECT ONCE YOU ARE LOGGED INTO ARTFACT:
- You will see a picture of the lot that is being sold...and you will see four other things on your computer screen:
1) the CURRENT BID that the Auctioneer now has
2) the ASKING BID that the Auctioneer is asking for
3) a YOUR BID BOX where you can enter the amount of your bid
4) a SUBMIT BUTTON which will submit your bid to our Internet Clerk at the Auction

- What will be happening in the Auction Room
1) The Auctioneer will open the bidding from either a Floor Bidder, or an ArtFact Live Bidder.
2) Once the bidding has started the Internet Clerk, located adjacent to the Auctioneer, will begin keying in the Current Bid which, based upon the Standard Bid Increments, will automatically adjust his screen and yours, with the next ASKING BID being asked for by the Auctioneer.
3) You can bid whenever you wish...perhaps you bid will be accepted...perhaps the Current Bid will be far beyond your bid by the time you submit your bid. That is normal and if your bid is surpassed, no problem. This is basically the same as when you try to bid at a Live Auction and the Auctioneer doesn't immediately accept your bid. All that matters is who gets in the final bid and wins the lot.
4) After the bidding slows down on the floor, the Auctioneer will wait approximately 10 seconds prior to knocking down the lot and moving on to the next lot....which gives you no more than several seconds to submit your bid. Which means that you must bid quickly. If your bid is surpassed by another bidder, the Auctioneer will wait another 10 seconds before knocking down the item.
